Guardianship and Adoption Preservation
Our new GAP services include a specialized focus on adoptive families and families with guardianship. Our goal is to support you so your family is preserved. We understand that children that have gone through adoption or guardianship typically struggle with their past. We are here to help you close the GAP and to support you in becoming the healthiest you can be!
Individual
Individual services typically take place in a family's home. Meeting in the home adds a unique advantage in that you are able to practice skills in your own environment. Individual services focus on what you specifically need. The staff assigned to you will pull from their knowledge base and classes offered to give you the best ideas to fit with your family. This approach offers families the ability to ask specific questions and really get to the root of the problem.
Classes
“Step 1” 6-class workshop focuses on the importance of consistency and follow through. It helps parents practice using positive statements and interventions in order to get desired behaviors. It can help address problems including going to bed on time, following directions, completing chores, and many more topics that consistently challenge parents.
Parent Parties
NHPS offers a unique type of support group called Parent Parties. These give you the support with a group of people you know and trust, in a comfortable home setting. Parent Parties are held in the host's home and are comprised of a group of caregivers or parents the host invites. All in attendance are able to ask specific questions about parenting, behaviors, discipline techniques, and anything else they can think of! We invite you to participate in a judgement-free zone to gain extra knowledge that specifically pertains to you and your social network.
